Baja California boasts 5 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, 9 untouchable Biosphere Reserves, the world's largest collection of thousand-year-old cave paintings, the only coral reef in the North Pacific, and more than 30 uninhabited islands in the Sea of Cortes teeming with marine and terrestrial life.

The Mexican peninsula is considered the best place in the world for Whale Watching.Every year, some 5,000 gray, humpback and blue whales reach the Baja's shores to breed or mate.

Different desert landscapes, ancient missions from the 1700s, and Wild West-style villages where rural communities still live as they did 200 years ago make the Baja a truly unique destination.

More than 30 percent of its territory has not been explored to date.
